FROM THE RECTOR JULY 2008
I'm a little "stoved up" this morning as I write this. I spent most of yesterday spading and then rototilling a good sized piece of our back yard for a flower garden. Flowers? I've noticed that I'm doing what I've read that many older men do: they get interested in artistic things. Many guys 60 and over develop interest in fly tying, photography, leather crafting, painting, etc. I'm starting to get interested in flowers. I notice flower gardens as I make my rounds in places where I'd not looked before. I'm starting to be able to tell the difference between a pansy and a petunia, but I'm not much more advanced than that Maybe I'm appreciative of growth and color and symmetry and smell because I'm dealing with major life changes. Haven't gotten that one sorted, but for now, it's making Deanna happy that I'm actually taking interest in something she's enjoyed for years. She's teaching me a lot. In the meantime, I may hire someone to dig up the lawn next time. There is another aspect of aging that is really not so pleasant. I think I'll go take some Tylenol.
God bless you all,
Fr.Bryce+
