From the Deacon

Several weeks ago, the adult forum was one of the most important that we have ever had.  The first part was led by Hank Masterson with regards to wills, and planning your death arrangements. Bev and I, both, have lost our parents. One set planned their funeral arrangements, and the other did not. It was so much easier for us with the
parents that planned their funeral arrangements in advance.

There is always grief, and to add the details of making the plans to that makes it very tryirig.  There are always details of how the estate is to be distributed.  There are a lot of tax ramifications. If it is well planned in advance the estate taxes are minimal.

There are really two questions to be answered. First, who do you want what you left behind distributed to? Second, do you want a high percentage of it to go to the government?

The easiest thing to do is shrug your shoulders, and say I don't have anything. Do you own a car, a home, personal belongings, etc.? Have you checked the prices of homes lately? Depending how long ago you purchased a home, the value today is probably at least 2 times more than you paid for it, and if it has been twenty years or more ago at least 2 1/2 to 3 times what you paid for it.

Do you own any stock? Do you have a checking, or savings account? Do you have any business interest?

If your answer to any of these questions is yes, and you don't have a will, there is probably an estate problem.

We are responsible for ourselves in life, but we are also responsible in death.

Of course the reason for the class was - Don't forget the Church!! If you give to the Church in life, doesn't your responsibility continue in death?
